This exhibition currently on display in buenos aires is aimed at making people see cancer in a different light. there are several images of different types of cancer from lung, skin to ovarian. looking at the cancer as an art form is suggested that it is a more positive way of seeing cancer for the patients. the client for this exhibition is the hospital aleman oncology department which is a leading hospital in treating cancer.
do you think that looking at cancer and seeing it as an art form is a way of thinking of it more positively?

Serious issues like cancer are often suppressed in people's minds because of the subconscious fear to deal with certain problems. By transforming the negative aspect of the illness and presenting a positive image; the exhibition in my view aims to raise awareness on the subject offering an alternative image to something that is often seen as negative and unattractive. It would be interesting to see if there are any actual reviews for the exhibition and what people thought of it.
So here is what I think...and I don't even know you, but here goes.
I think the exhibit is an interesting thought, but not realistic. I don't believe that pushing things to a new view changes anything, or helps. I believe that we must and have to deal with issues as they really are...cancer is painful, cancer is hard, cancer sometimes means you have to say goodbye...I lost someone I love very dearly to cancer and to think that someone might say "don't you see the artistic side of that" is almost insulting. However, to see the Sovereignty of it, I agree with completely...but it isn't beautiful. We can't make everything pretty. Some things are ugly. Some things are raw and real and we have to deal with that; it's what life is. It is foolish to believe that we can make everything beautiful....without the ugly we wouldn't know what beauty is.
Good post though, very interesting to ponder...in a few days I might even disagree with myself...
